Historic England

The Conservation Department at Historic England play a critical role in ensuring that the historic environment of England is properly maintained and cared for. Responsible for technical advice, research, policy development, standard setting, publications and training on the decay and treatment of historic building materials, they work in partnership with central government, local authorities, voluntary bodies and the private sector; they allocate conservation grants, preside over many of the nation’s most important historic buildings and provide expert advice to the building industry.

Specialists from Historic England are available in a dedicated conservation area at the show to discuss stone conservation, current research projects and training.

They also oversee the conservation day of the Conference and helps publicise the Natural Stone Show within the built heritage community.
