Adrian Attwood
After completing a BSc (Hons) in Building Technology and Management, I entered the building conservation and restoration industry as a Trainee Surveyor in 1987, firstly with a large Management Contractor and then with a specialist masonry company.
In 1991 I joined DBR (London) Limited as Operations Manager and became Executive Director in 1999, whilst achieving a Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation from Bournemouth University. I was appointed Company Secretary at DBR in 2010, established DBR Conservation Limited in 2011. and appointed as Chairman in 2023.
I am an Accredited Conservator (ACR) with ICON and have extensive experience of historic building regeneration with a particular emphasis on masonry cleaning and repair.
I also lecture widely in the UK, Europe and South America on historic building conservation techniques and practices and provide technical advice on heritage projects.
I am highly experienced in the Project management of Conservation work to historic buildings, principally in Listed Buildings & Scheduled Monuments and often act as a ‘hands on’ Projects Director on selected conservation projects including the Palace of Westminster ((UNESCO World Heritage Site), The Victoria & Albert Museum and British Museum along with the conservation of Brutalist Buildings & Monuments.
I also provide seminars on skills shortages and champion craftsmanship in historic building conservation through my company’s initiatives with QEST and campaign Year of the Master Craftsperson.
